Name released in fatal police shooting in IR

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Iron County Prosecutor’s Office has released the name of the man fatally shot by law enforcement in Iron River in late June.

David Ronald Bridgette was killed after an Iron County sheriff’s deputy and an Iron River police officer were called to an Iron River residence about 4:10 p.m. June 24 for a well-being check.

An online obituary listed Bridgette as 45 years old and of Iron River.

Bridgette’s name was released by the prosecutor’s office through the Michigan State Police Iron Mountain Post, which has been assigned to investigate the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing and the prosecutor’s office provided no further details on the shooting, according to the MSP.
