FLORENCE, Wis. — Authorities are investigating a fatal ATV accident that happened early Thursday in the Tipler area of Florence County.

The crash was reported to Florence County Dispatch at 1:48 a.m. on the Nicolet State Trail in the Town of Tipler, Sheriff Dan Miller stated in a news release.

Units from the sheriff’s office, Tipler EMS and fire department, Aspirus Medics and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources responded. A 57-year-old male was transported to Aspirus Hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to the news release. The sheriff’s office did not release a name or other details.

Alcohol and speed appear to have been contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and Wisconsin DNR.
