Power outages across region

IRON MOUNTAIN — Thousands of We Energies customers in Dickinson and Florence counties were without power Wednesday as crews worked to repair damage from an ice storm.

As of 10:25 p.m. Wednesday, the power company listed 1,400 customers without service in Dickinson County and 1,125 in Florence County. There were hundreds of outages in Iron County and Marinette County.

Wisconsin Public Service reported outages across northeastern Wisconsin.

Crews were restoring service to restoring to more than 50,000 customers affected by Wednesday morning’s storm, said Matt Cullen, WPS senior communications specialist.

“Crews are finding several downed wires and extensive tree damage caused by the heavy, wet snow and accumulating ice,” Cullen said. “The accumulating snow and ice have caused additional outages for some customers,” he added.
