IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Community Chorus will present “Music Under the Stars” at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Lake Antoine Band Shell in Iron Mountain.

The concert will be under the direction of Principal Director Crystal Hogan.

The concert will be a tribute to John R. Calo and will include some of his favorite songs to sing and conduct. Selections will include a variety of music genres and styles: gospel, a “Fiddler on the Roof” medley, barbershop, favorite Italian songs and patriotic pieces.

The 45-voice chorus will be accompanied on piano by Jan Van Gasse and Mary Lee. A variety of instrumentalists will accompany the group and many small vocal ensembles will honor John through song.

Family members — daughters Cece, Celeste and Monica Calo — will sing, along with niece Carmela Altobelli making a special appearance to perform.

There will be many opportunities for the audience to sing along.

Assistant directors and section leaders are Dawn Kranz, Jeremiah Garriguies-Cortelyou, Joe McKindles and Gail Vornkahl.

The concert is free of charge.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved to 7:15 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford.
