IM 1952 grad congratulates football team
Bouquets and Barbs
Bouquet: Congratulations to the Iron Mountain Mountaineer football team on their 9-0 football record. I played football for the Mountaineers for four years, and I know how difficult it is to obtain a record like this year’s team did.
I look forward to their championship game at Ford Field in the near future. I’m not sure when, if ever, the Mountaineers had an unbeaten season. (Editor’s note: Since 1953, they have had several undefeated regular seasons but none in which they went unbeaten for the year.) Should they make it to the championship Division 7 game, my sons, Greg and Bill, will attend the game with me.
I was born and raised in Iron Mountain, and graduated from IMHS in June 1952. I have always believed that I received an excellent education in Iron Mountain, and graduated from Michigan State University in 1956. Since that time, I have followed the efforts of my hometown team. You can take the boy out of the U.P., but you can never take the U.P. out of the boy.
Proud to be a Yooper Mountaineer!
