Light at the Inn had its annual membership meeting to prepare for the beginning of its seventh season of service to the homeless of the Dickinson-Iron County area. The purpose of Light at the Inn is to provide support for those in this area who are struggling to find and maintain stable and secure shelter for themselves and their families through the cooperative efforts of an interfaith coalition. You can’t be serious. Former President Donald Trump recently hosted and had dinner with a known white supremacist at his mansion in Florida. After realizing the blunder, Mr. Trump claims he did not know who the man was. So we’re supposed to believe that a former president, a few years removed from office, along with his Secret Service detail allowed someone he does not know into his mansion and sat down to dinner with him, while all along not knowing who the man was? America’s a great country, but she’s dying. And we have only ourselves to blame. The day after the election I woke up, wept, and then said my daily prayer for our country. It’s unfathomable to me how people can continue to elect leaders that are spending us into bankruptcy, dismantling our police forces, decriminalizing thugs and destroying our hard-won energy independence. Holiday event fosters positive relationships

The Shop with a Cop event, which takes approximately 30 kids from Florence and Dickinson counties out for dinner and holiday shopping for their families, is one of the ways local law enforcement fosters these positive relationships. Not everyone who voted in last week’s election had the outcome they had hoped for. That is the way it goes. However, all Dickinson Country residents who did turn out to vote — either in person or by absentee ballot — should be assured that their vote was counted, recounted and certified as it was written.
