Dems criticize LaFave posts

State Rep. Beau LaFave’s recent photos posted on social media are being called insensitive and racist, according to an article on the online publication Michigan Advance. One photo depicts a meme where Gov. Gretchen Whitmer murders the state budget. The other shows LaFave posing with thumb’s up next to a mannequin with the words “Lost Hunter from Detroit." Impeachment inquiry an unfair process

Everyone in this country watching the recent impeachment hearings should be very frightened. This is not about which political party is “good” or “bad,” or even President Trump. It’s about the freedoms guaranteed to all Americans under our constitution. We are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and guaranteed the right to due process — fair and impartial judgment. MCAC deserves financial help

EDITOR: On Oct. 21, there was a letter in the Daily News written by Lola Johnson explaining the work done by the Medical Care Access Coalition, or MCAC. This organization has literally been a lifesaver for many people who otherwise could not afford their medications. MCAC virtually runs on a shoestring budget. In order to keep this essential organization going, funds have to come from somewhere. Where? Private donations, corporate money and grants are necessary to continue providing aid to those who need it the most. As of now, MCAC needs immediate financial relief as they continue ...

EDITOR: Lake Antoine Park Partners is a volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to preserve, improve and protect Lake Antoine Park. Our monthly meetings are open to the public at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month, where we discuss applying for grants and creating fundraisers for specific projects, like this year’s beach rehab that was paid for with a grant and donations from businesses and private citizens. I saw a rally on television and the folks in the background all had nice, new T-shirts that said, “Read the Transcript.” Now this caused a bit of confusion for me. What transcript am I being asked to read? I believe I know what piece of paper they want me to read and I have seen it. The very FIRST paragraph goes into detail stating that this is NOT a transcript. Got that? The document they are referring to is not a transcript. So there is no transcript. Equipment needs to be returned

This is in response to the letter by Diane Schabo in Friday’s paper. What a sad thing to hear, that people who have been helped by this program do not appreciate it enough to return the equipment as requested. Good golly, that is stealing! And stealing from the community and others who are in need. The cancer loan closet is a great program, and we need to do what we can to support it in any way that we can help, financially or otherwise. Please, people of Dickinson County, do your part.
