ISHPEMING — The West PAC Conference Iron Division football coaches met on Monday at Ishpeming High School to select the 2019 All-Conference team for their division.

The 7-2 Ishpeming Hematites and first-year head coach George Niemi were crowned division champions going 7-0 in division play. Their two losses were to Marquette Country rivals Westwood and at Negaunee in back-to-back weeks in late September.

Manistique running back Schlyer Anderson was named offensive player of the year. Defensive player of the year was given to inside linebacker Ben Pruett of Ishpeming. DPOY honorable mention went to Noah Thomson of West Iron County.

Jacob Kugler of Ishpeming was chosen as lineman of the year, with honorable mention going to Kody Hendricks of Norway. Special teams player of the year was chosen to be sophomore Shafaar Evans of Gwinn.

Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Andy Crouch was selected as Iron Division coach of the year. He led the Lakes, the smallest school in the U.P still competing in 11-player football, to a 6-3 record on the season and qualifying for the Division 8 playoffs.
