Nordics solve road woes

HARRIS — North Dickinson got its first road win of the season, holding off Bark River-Harris 53-48 in Skyline Central Conference boys basketball Friday.

“We found a way to win against a quality team,” said Nordics coach Chris Mattson. “Everyone contributed.”

Three ND players scored in double figures, led by Cameron Schultz with 18, including crucial free throws in the final minutes. Maximus Mattson, who drained three treys in the first quarter, finished with 14 points, and Brennan Donaldson canned 10.

The Nordics (3-9) led 28-17 at halftime and held off a Broncos rally. “The pace of play was hectic,” coach Mattson said, noting his team showed poise as the lead dwindled to 49-43.

North Dickinson’s Justin Slagle scored seven points and grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds. “Justin did his work underneath,” Mattson said. “Just a great job.”

Nick Javurec scored 14 points to lead the Broncos.

The BR-H junior varsity won 55-26.

North Dickinson will host Forest Park on Tuesday.
