WABENO, Wis. — Laona-Wabeno ended Florence’s tournament run with a 69-50 victory Saturday to earn a boys basketball regional championship in WIAA Division 5.

The Rebels move on to face Wausaukee in the sectional semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday in Elcho.

Wausaukee was a 79-70 winner over Gibraltar on Saturday. Hayden Renikow paced the Rangers with 21 points.

In girls Division 4, Crandon landed a spot in the state semifinals with a 63-58 win over Marathon in the sectional championship. In Division 5, Oneida Nation, who ousted Niagara on Thursday, fell to Newman Catholic 57-48 in the sectional title game.
