FLORENCE, Wis. – Florence played great defense against Northern Lakes Conference frontrunner Three Lakes, but the visitors prevailed 3-0 (25-13, 30-28, 25-14) in girls volleyball Monday evening.

“Three Lakes came to Florence with some heavy hitters,” Florence head coach Teresa Chrisman said. “I am really proud of the girls. They continued to fight and really made it a match, especially in the second. Three Lakes had height and awesome hitting, but we were digging a lot up and getting touches on defense. Three Lakes is on top of our conference for good reason.”

Sophomore Morgan Tomczak paced the LadyCats’ attack with nine kills, two being tips.

“She had a great game in the back row,” Chrisman said.

Sidney Tomczak had seven assists and five kills. Both Tomczaks, Tylie Fyvie and Madison Johnson all served 100 percent for Florence.

“We are improving,” Chrisman said. “That is all I can ask for. Our serving was much better tonight.”

Florence plays at Goodman-Pembine tonight, in Pembine.
