Two football games canceled; IM, West Iron get forfeit wins

IRON MOUNTAIN — Two area Michigan high school football playoff games scheduled for Saturday have been canceled.

Iron Mountain’s game at Mountaineer Stadium versus Rogers City was called off, with the Mountaineers receiving the forfeit win. They advance to the second round of the Division 8 playoffs, where they will face the winner of Friday’s Gwinn at East Jordan game.

West Iron County, set to play Saturday at Nelson Field in Stambaugh, gets the forfeit win over Norway due to COVID-19-related concerns, according to Joe Tinti, Norway High School principal and athletic director.

West Iron will take on the winner of Friday’s St. Ignace at Bark River-Harris contest in the second round.
