IRONWOOD — The Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association released the 2020 11-player All-U.P. football selections Thursday evening. The region is well represented on both the Dream Team and First Team.
There were seven Dream Team selections combined from Iron Mountain, Kingsford and West Iron County.
West Iron offensive tackle Nathan Lundin was named the Mitchell Snyder U.P. Lineman of the Year. The 6-foot-3-inch 315-pound senior was also a Dream Team selection, as well as being named 2020 Offensive Player of the Year in the West PAC Conference Iron Division.
Lundin was joined on the Dream Team by fellow senior Nathan Thomson, who was selected at punter.
Kingsford has three players, all juniors, selected to the Dream Team — offensive tackle Lucas Tappy, wide receiver Zach Person and kicker Diego Przeslakowski. All three Flivvers selections were also all-Great Northern Conference picks at their respective positions.

Iron Mountain seniors Caleb Evosevich-Hynes and Caleb Burklund were the Mountaineers selected to the Dream Team.
Evosevich-Hynes, a 2019 selection at linebacker, was named at running back this season. Burklund, a 2019 All-U.P. small school selection at defensive line, was tabbed at the same position on this year’s Dream Team.
Both Burklund and Evosevich-Hynes were 2020 West PAC Conference Copper Division selections, with Evosevich-Hynes named co-Offensive Player of the Year.
Harrison Hogenmiller, a senior from West Iron, was the First Team selection at center. Joining Hogenmiller on the First Team offensive line is senior Elliot Johnson of Kingsford.
On the defensive side, Iron Mountain seniors Bryce Pietrantonio at linebacker, and Jon Carrion at defensive end, were First Team selections. Pietrantonio was an All-U.P. special mention in 2019.

Kingsford senior linebacker Carter Kreski, a 2019 First Team selection at linebacker, was selected at the same position this season.
Iron Mountain was a unanimous selection as the U.P. Small School Team of the Year for the second straight season.
The Mountaineers, whose schedule was ravaged by pandemic cancellations, are currently 8-1, including 3-0 in the games they did play, with convincing regular season and post-season wins over Bark River-Harris, while routing Gwinn in a second-round playoff matchup.
The Mountaineers and Negaunee are in waiting, along with North Central in 8-player, for the MHSAA playoffs to resume.
Mountaineers head coach Robin Marttila was selected as 11-player co-small school Coach of the Year. Marttila, who won the award outright in 2019, grabs his third overall Coach of the Year award.

Sharing the small school Coach of the Year award with Marttila is fellow Iron Mountain native/graduate Ben Olsen. Olsen is the first-year head coach at Gwinn, having taken over for the late Dion Brown.
Olsen led the Modeltowners to the team’s first playoff win since 1999, with a first-round 24-20 victory at East Jordan on Oct. 30.
A handful of players from the region received honorable mention from the UPSSA. They are: Nolan LaVarnway, Sr., Kingsford; Ben Rumpf, Sr., Kingsford; Joey Dumais, Sr., Iron Mountain; Chase Carlson, Jr., Norway; and Gage Larson, Sr., West Iron County.
The Offensive Player of the Year was Marquette receiver Kam Karp, a senior, and the Defensive Player of the Year was Marquette’s Desmond Mullen, a junior defensive back.
The 8-player selections will be released Friday evening with publication on Saturday.
