IRON MOUNTAIN — Christina Glodowski and Jenna Olkkonen combined for 33 points as Kingsford defeated Iron Mountain 63-34 in non-conference girls basketball Tuesday.

It marked the Flivvers’ first win after two opening losses.

“I thought we did some real nice things offensively,” said Kingsford coach Jon Lorenzoni “We shared the ball well against their zone. We had a lot of assists.”

Glodowski’s game-high 17 points included a perfect six-for-six from the line.

Chloe Bianco’s 13 points led Iron Mountain and Claire Mongrain chipped in 12.

“We just couldn’t hit tonight, and when the ball won’t drop, there’s not much you can do,” said Iron Mountain coach Karen Ellis. “The girls didn’t quit and I’m proud of them for that. Kingsford is always tough competition and they played very well tonight.”

The Flivvers led 32-17 at halftime, boosted by a 5-0 run at the end of the quarter.

The Iron Mountain JVs won 42-38 behind Callie Bianco’s 12 points.

Kingsford (1-2), travels to Escanaba on Friday, before traveling to Gladstone on Tuesday, for consecutive Great Northern Conference games.

Iron Mountain (1-4) is at Norway on Thursday.
