Trojans advance to district title game

Showers nets 17 against Soaring Eagles

WILSON — With three players scoring in double figures, led by Tommy Showers with a game-high 17 points, Forest Park launched past Hannahville Nah Tah 63-28 in an MHSAA Division 4 District semifinal here Thursday night.

Keall Emmers added 14 points, while Sam McKissak chipped in 10 points for the Trojans.

“We played good, the guys really came to play and brought intensity on both sides of the court” said Trojans head coach Kurt Lehmann. “It was great to see us get to the rim and not settle for outside shots. The boys are playing together and that makes it a lot of fun to be a part of.”

Joe Larson led Hannahville with 11 points, in what was the Soaring Eagles (10-6) first-ever home MHSAA tournament game.

The Trojans, who improved to 7-8 on the season with the win, will travel to Skyline Central Conference foe Carney-Nadeau on Saturday night, to play for the Division 4 District 99 championship. The Wolves slipped past rival North Central 51-50 Thursday night in Powers.

FP and C-N split their two meetings in the regular season. The Wolves won at the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium in Crystal Falls, 39-36 on Feb. 26, while the Trojans won at Carney, 46-44 on March 12.

Tip off from Carney is at 6 p.m.
