GAASTRA — West Iron County senior Nathan Thomson shot a 69 and bested North Central junior Bryson Mercier by four strokes for medalist Thursday at the George Young Invitational hosted by West Iron at George Young Golf Course.

Norway tied West PAC Conference champion Houghton for the team title with a 325 in the 15-team event.

Drew Anderson led Norway with a 77, followed by Carson Chartier with a 79, Jeffrey VanHolla, 80, and Evan Anderson, 89.

Iron Mountain’s Ricky Brown shot a 77 to tie Norway’s Drew Anderson and Houghton’s Brady Schmierer for third place.

Iron Mountain finished sixth as a team with a 357, while West Iron placed ninth with a 413. North Central finished 12th at 427, while Forest Park shot a 453, finishing in 13th.
