Forest Park ‘digs deeper’ to defeat Wykons, 3-1
CRYSTAL FALLS — In a non-conference cross- county rivalry contest, host Forest Park defeated West Iron, 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-11) in girls volleyball action Tuesday night at the Eddie Chambers Memorial Gymnasium in Crystal Falls.
“We started off slow tonight and West Iron took advantage of that, they came out ready to play. Our first game was sloppy, we didn’t control the ball on our side of the court and we had too many unforced errors,” said Lady Trojans head coach Bobbie Jo Anderson.
The second and third sets were better, Anderson said.
“The girls were determined to win and dug deep when they needed to. It wasn’t until the fourth set that we were finally able to control the entire game,” Anderson added. “Kudos to West Iron, they played tough tonight and have definitely improved since we played them last.”
The Trojans return to action on Thursday with a trip to Munising for Skyline Central Conference action. The Wykons return to action on Tuesday as they host non-conference foe Chassell.
Also on Tuesday night, North Central was defeated at SCC foe Munsing, 3-0. The Jets host Stephenson on Thursday night for SCC action, before hosting Norway on Monday.
