Twice as nice: Mountaineers double up on Knights

Carson McLean and Ian Martilla each knocked in a run during the Mountaineers’ key fifth inning. Martilla and Beau Kralovec had two hits each to lead Iron Mountain’s seven-hit attack.
Kralovec started the scoring in the bottom of the first when he singled in a run on the first pitch. The Knights responded with five in the second, keyed by singles from Chase Carlson and Alex Ortman and a walk drawn by Brent Lagina.
Carlson finished with two hits in three plate appearances for Norway.
Iron Mountain was successfully aggressive on the base paths, recording nine stolen bases.

Evan Haferkorn notched the win for the Mountaineers, surrendering one run in 4.1 innings in relief.
Carson Chartier absorbed the loss for the Knights.
On Tuesday, Norway swept host Bark River-Harris by scores of 8-4 and 4-3. In the former, Landon Amundsen and Ian Popp drove in two runs each to spark the Knights. Michael Peterson and Lagina added two hits and two runs scored each. Lagina also recorded an RBI.
Carlson notched the win with two innings of relief. He struck out five in closing the game.
In the 4-3 victory, Peterson led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Chartier added two hits with one run driven in.

Nolan Amundsen and Ortman combined on a five-hitter for Norway with seven strikeouts. Amundsen pitched the first four innings and recorded the win.
“We were able to do just enough to win both games,” Norway coach Tony Adams said. “Give credit to Bark River for playing well today. We were put into some pressure situations today and we responded positively to most of them.
“The calendar may say the first of week of May, but we are still early in the process of game reps,” he added.
