On June 29, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass H.R. 3005 which directs the Joint Committee on the Library to replace the bust of Roger Brooke Taney in the old Supreme Court Chamber of the U.S. Capitol with a bust of Thurgood Marshall and to remove certain statues from U.S. Capitol areas that are accessible to the public of individuals who voluntarily served the Confederate States of America from display in the United States Capitol, and for other purposes. Antique tractor ride to VA center set for Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Northwoods Antique Tractor Club is planning the eighth-annual Tractor Ride to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, weather permitting. We will leave from Breen and Carpenter avenues in Kingsford at about 10 a.m. and go north up Carpenter Avenue to H Street to the VA center, with guidance from Kingsford Public Safety and Iron Mountain police. When we leave the VA, we will exit on H Street east through the Lutheran church to East Kingsford back to our trucks and trailers. If it rains, we will go on Wednesday, July 21.

It was brought to my attention how an elderly person had recently fallen in her home and wasn’t found for a few days. This saddens me to hear this. I can’t imagine what she might have been thinking or feeling as she lay there, waiting for someone to come to her rescue. Weight loss support group meeting again

EDITOR: TOPS is back in action and looking for new members. TOPS, which stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly, is a support group for those looking to get rid of the COVID 15 pounds that were gained during the lockdown. The Crystal Falls group meets once a week at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays in the council room of the Crystal Falls City Hall.
