Stamp club meets on Aug. 20

IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 in the fellowship room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. The church is between Domino’s Pizza and Slumberland Furniture. A short business meeting and educational program, will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. Florence County Historical Society to have quilt raffle

FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence County Historical Society is having a raffle for a quilt expertly made and donated by Joan Spears and long-armed stitched by Patti Wabitsch. Other prizes include a handmade Amish-style rug, quilted carryall bag, engraved cutting board, wooden hanging planter, bird house, hummingbird feeder and engraved insulated cups, all made and donated by local crafters. Legion Post 145 in Norway to host breakfast Sunday

NORWAY — American Legion Post 145 will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday at the post. The menu will include scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, hashbrown potatoes, toast, coffee, milk, juice and fruit salad.
