Wildflower Walk slated on Saturday

MARINETTE, Wis. — A guided spring Wildflower Walk is planned from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Harmony Hardwoods Memorial Forest. Although they are usually small and subtle, the variety and beauty of native flowers is worth exploring. Participants may see such species as trillium, bloodroot, bellwort, Dutchman’s breeches and spring beauty. Those attending should wear good walking shoes or hiking boots and dress for the weather. Florence County Historical Society plans meeting for upcoming season

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall of First Presbyterian Church, 409 Lake Ave. in Florence. Plans for the upcoming season will be discussed, including a Veteran’s Recognition Day, the annual Quilt Show and Strawberry Social and the Quilt Raffle. The museum will officially open from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 13. New exhibits will include Past Celebrations of Labor Days, Reunion 2000, Centennial Daze, and Firemen Tournaments. Dickinson MARSP to meet on May 16

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson Chapter of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel will meet Thursday, May 16, at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain. Jonathan Ringel will give a presentation about the senior programs offered at the YMCA. A social hour, with coffee provided, will begin at 11 a.m., followed by a noon luncheon. EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — The Enchanted Doll Club of the Northwoods will have its monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the meeting room of the Kalmar Senior Center, 1011 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River. The meeting will focus on dolls that come with suitcases of clothes and accessories.
