Food distribution planned Wednesday in Quinnesec

QUINNESEC — Feeding America West Michigan will bring a mobile food pantry to Dickinson County on Wednesday. Free food is available to households experiencing food insecurity.

The Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Tri-City Cinemas 8, W7700 U.S. 2 in Quinnesec. This is a drive-thru food distribution, starting promptly at 10 a.m. and with check-in/registration beginning at least an hour beforehand.

Customers should be prepared for a lengthy wait in line. All customer and volunteer traffic will use the U.S. 2 entrance. The Baler Road entrance will be closed. Walk-In customers and customers arriving in taxicabs will be directed to the theatre building. Restrooms are located in the building.

Customers will be asked to provide full name, full address, household size and make-up, and reason for needing food. No proof of identity, residency or eligibility is required. If picking up for another household, the same information must be provided in a signed note by an adult member of that household.

There is a maximum of three households per vehicle. Customers should have in their vehicles boxes, laundry baskets or totes where volunteers can place the food.

For the remainder of 2024, this mobile food pantry, which is coordinated by FAWM agency partner Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Iron Mountain, will be at the Tri-City Cinemas on the second Wednesday of every month — Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11.

The 2025 schedule will be announced before the end of the year.

Questions about the pantry or about volunteering should be directed to the site coordinator, Anda Tavonatti, at 906-239-6778, not to the Tri-City Cinemas.

Starting at $3.50/week.
