Dentistry for veterans Nov. 7 at John Fornetti Dental Center in IM

Dentistry For Our Vets will be Nov. 7 at the John Fornetti Dental Center in Iron Mountain.

IRON MOUNTAIN – The John Fornetti Dental Center will present Dentistry For Our Vets on Saturday, Nov. 7.

Dentistry For Our Vets provides free dental care to veterans in need.

Dr. John Fornetti, Dr. Dan Fornetti and Dr. Nicole Hartwig, along with their team of employees, volunteers and sponsors, will host this annual event, now in its seventh year.

Those older than 18 in need of dental care will be able to choose between one free extraction, filling or hygiene cleaning.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis until 1 p.m.

The dental center at 100 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain will turn its parking lot into an outdoor waiting room, with a heated waiting area and burn barrels, but participants should bundle up to stay warm.

Several safety measures will be put in place due to COVID-19, including quick screening questions and a temperature check upon arrival. Masks also are required when entering the event.

It is estimated that 91% of U.S. veterans are ineligible for dental benefits.

In response, Dr. John Fornetti started Dentistry For Our Vets. The 2019 event was able to serve 69 veterans with more than 145 procedures and in excess of $22,000 in services donated.

Anyone interested in volunteering their services can call 906-774-0100 or go to www.johnfornettidentalcenter.com.
