MUNISING — Authorities have identified two kayakers whose bodies were found Friday after they went missing Thursday evening in Lake Superior at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

They are Kimberly Aiello of Troy and David Delegato of Shelby Township, both in downstate Michigan.

Both bodies were recovered a few miles offshore from Pictured Rocks.

The National Park Service, along with the U.S. Coast Guard and other federal and state agencies, launched the search that included aircraft such as a C-130 and a rescue helicopter, authorities said.

The search covered more than 516 square miles and used assets from the U.S. Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard, National Park Service, the Civil Air Patrol and the Alger County Sheriff’s Department, authorities stated.
