IRON MOUNTAIN — A fire Wednesday left a home in the 300 block of East Fleshiem Street uninhabitable, according to the Iron Mountain Fire Department.

IMFD crews responded at 12:43 p.m. to 309 E. Fleshiem St., where they found heavy smoke pushing out of the second floor and attic area of the 2 1/2-story house.

All residents had gotten out of the building when firefighters arrived and no injuries were reported due to the fire, the IMFD stated in a news release.

The fire was declared under control at 1:30 p.m., though crews continued to fight pockets of flames in the walls. The department cleared the site at 2:39 p.m. The structure had heavy damage to the second floor and attic.

Assisting were the Iron Mountain Police Department, Integrity Care EMS, Breitung Township Fire Department, WE Energies, DTE and the Iron Mountain Department of Public Works.
