FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence led 39-0 at halftime and went on to defeat White Lake 51-5 in Northern Lakes Conference action on Monday night.

“We came out right away and played tough defense, our hands were up and our trap was forcing turnovers. It was a good night overall. Everyone registered something in at least one stat column,” said Florence head coach Brad Perry.

The LadyCats took off their press about midway through the first half, Perry noted, and he began to sub in his bench players, in what was a makeup game from Jan. 9.

“We were balanced scoring wise. I was happy with the total team effort. Lots of minutes for our bench tonight, which is good because we have young players on our bench,” Perry said.

Florence improved to 7-8 on the season and remains home to host NLC foe Elcho on Thursday. The game is a 6 p.m. start due to no JV game.

Gillett 57, Niagara 40

NIAGARA, Wis. — Senior center Jessica Oratch posting a double-double and Alyssa Cretton netting a team-high 15 points for Niagara, wasn’t enough to overcome a game-high 29 points from Karissa Schaal of Gillett, as the Tigers defeated the Lady Badgers 57-40 in Marinette-Oconto Conference action Monday night.

Oratch netted 10 points, while grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds. The Badgers shot 31 percent from the field on the night.

Gillett, who led 25-16 at the half, took the lead at 10-8 and led the rest of the game. Niagara head coach Karl Lamoreaux and his squad fell to 9-7 on the season and are off until Tuesday, Feb. 4, when M&O conference foe Lena visits.
