NIAGARA, Wis. — Josie Learned and Abigail Richtig knocked in two runs each and Abby Wells threw a complete game four-hitter as the Niagara Lady Badgers edged visiting Gillett-Suring 8-6 in a Marinette & Oconto Conference battle on Monday.

Wells scored three runs as well, while Emma Broullire scored two as the Lady Badgers recorded their second win of the season and began league play with a victory.

“Good conference win for us,” Niagara coach Brad Richtig said. “Gillett-Suring is a scrappy club and only going to get better.”

The Hornets worked Wells for six walks to go with their four hits, but the Niagara right-hander escaped often enough to post the win.

“Abby Wells did a great job pitching, getting us out of a few jams,” Richtig said.

Bailey Pearson added the other RBI for Niagara.
