Esky nips Knights in thriller
NORWAY — The Norway Knights varsity baseball team fought tooth-and-nail with Escanaba on Thursday evening before dropping a 10-8 decision in a non-conference contest on Senior Day in Norway.
The Knights overcame a 4-1 deficit with 6 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. But the talented Eskymos fired back with 5 in the sixth to retake the lead.
Both clubs scored a single run in the seventh to account for the final score.
“Very exciting game today on Senior Day,” Norway coach Tony Adams said. “We had couple of miscues and too many walks in the third and fifth innings.
“Overall, we stayed positive, our dugout was good, and we competed until the end. We had our chances and several times we hit the ball hard but right at someone. Very proud of our effort today against a quality opponent.”
Carson Chartier, Landon Amundson and Blake Dishaw all drove in a pair of runs for Norway. The Knights also drew 8 walks from Escanaba pitchers during the game.
