Jets turn back Mustangs

MUNISING — Andie Arsenault scored 25 points here Friday night, leading the shorthanded North Central girls to a 56-48 basketball victory over the Munising Mustangs.

Jaiden Fleetwood added 10 for the Jets (4-1), who had just six available players.

The Jets led 15-6 after the first quarter and 30-14 at halftime of this Skyline Central Conference match-up.

“The girls played their hearts out,” said Jets’ coach Lee Vincent. “We got a little tired in the end, but we made our free throws. We had two girls gone on vacation and couldn’t run our regular defense.”

Crystal Murdock hit 18 points and Megan Matson had 17 for the Mustangs (2-3).

North Central committed 13 turnovers and collected 17 steals.

The Jets, who also won the jayvee contest 40-35, host Menominee Jan. 7.
