Justin Nelson’s double-double carries WIC

STAMBAUGH –Justin Nelson registered a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead West Iron County past Forest Park 36-26 Thursday night in the second game of the season between the cross-county rivals.

Wykons head coach Dan Schive was pleased to see his team defeat the Trojans for a second time this season. His team led 22-9 at the break.

“Things seemed to stay the same in the second half,” he said. “It was a low scoring, not very attractive to watch type of cross-county game. The key to the whole game was Forest Park didn’t have an answer on either end of the court for Justin. He had a dominant game,” said Schive.

West Iron improves to 6-2 on the season with the win, while Forest Park drops to 4-5.

The Wykons have three West PAC conference road games road games next week, beginning Monday night at Westwood.

Forest Park and head coach Kurt Lehmann return to action on Tuesday night hosting area rival North Dickinson in Skyline Conference action.

The Trojans won the JV game.
