Flivvers fall at Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis — Powered by three second period goals, Rhinelander defeated Kingsford 6-3 in non-conference hockey Thursday night.

Reece Fortner notched two goals and an assist in the contest, while Trey Bociek added the Flivvers’ first goal of the game and an assist. Hunter Fortner and Tyler Bengston were each credited with assists in the contest for Kingsford.

Rhinelander led 1-0 after one period of play, with the Flivvers scoring the next two goals of the game to take a 2-1 lead, late in the second period.

The Hodags recorded three goals in the last two and a half minutes of the period to take a 4-2 lead into the second intermission.

Kingsford scored first early in the final period, with the Hodags putting the game away with two late goals within the last minute and fifteen seconds.

The Flivvers (9-11) have a quick turnaround, as they return home to face Gaylord on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Mountain View Ice Arena in Iron Mountain in another non-conference tilt.
