Niagara volleyball undefeated

MARINETTE, Wis. — Niagara’s girls volleyball team traveled to Marinette Thursday night for a Marinette-Oconto Conference match, defeating the host St. Thomas Aquinas 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-23).

“STAA is a good defensive and scrappy team. The girls had their moments of good set-ups, but honestly, we didn’t play our best volleyball tonight. We were slow to move to the ball and our passing suffered because of it,” said Niagara head coach Carol St. Arnauld.

Alyssa Cretton and Bailey Pearson had 11 kills each while Morgan Borchardt and Abbey Wells followed with six kills each. Borchardt also led the team in service aces with six, and in assists with 28. Cretton also had 10 digs.

“We also hurt ourselves with numerous missed serves. This was definitely not the way Niagara volleyball has been playing, yet they persevered and won in three sets,” St. Arnauld said. “This team needs to elevate their play and be ready to work. We play six matches in the next two weeks and we need to play up to our potential.”

The Lady Badgers, who remain undefeated, travel to Wausaukee on Tuesday, before returning home to face STAA again, on Thursday.
