Blue Jays fly past Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — In Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball here Tuesday night, Three Lakes overwhelmed Florence 75-28. The young Ladycats had to contend with a Three Lakes team heavy in upperclassmen.

“We started off real strong, we had the lead early in the game,” said Florence head coach Brad Perry. “Three Lakes’ experience and our inexperience kicked in, we also started to speed up our offense too much and began to turn the ball over.”

Freshman Isabella Millan led Florence with 11 points, with Paige Uren chipping in eight points, as the Ladycats drop to 3-6 on the season.

Perry noted the Blue Jays have three players over 6 feet tall. The Ladycats’ tallest player is 4 to 5 inches shorter. “My girls effort is 100% at all times, and the scores of our games do not reflect how we have improved since the beginning of the season,” Perry added.

Florence returns to action Thursday night as they host non-conference foe Wausaukee at 6 p.m. NLC foe Elcho travels to Florence on Friday night in game two of a varsity doubleheader at approximately 7:15 p.m.
