Munising
spills Knights
MUNISING — Jenna Matson poured in a game-high 19 points to lead Munising to a 38-27 victory over Norway in a Skyline Central Conference girls basketball game Friday.
“We shot worse tonight than we have all year and Munising took advantage the entire game,” said Norway head coach Joe Tinti. “We were never really out of it but we couldn’t manufacture any points on their zone defense. They wanted this win and that was evident.”
Sophomore Donna VanHolla led the Lady Knights with eight points, while senior MacKenzie Clifford chipped in seven. Norway won the JV game.
Norway, who finishes the regular season 8-7 (8-5 SCC) with the loss, travels to rival Iron Mountain on Monday for a Division 3 first-round MHSAA district game versus the host Mountaineers. A 6 p.m. tip-off is scheduled.
Iron Mountain slipped past the Knights at Norway on Feb. 18 in a non-conference game.
